Words matter. So let our language evolve to reflect "self-reliance" and "independence" as the bedrock principles upon which my ancestors founded and built Black towns and settlements.
This was powerful. So powerful that it brought tears to my eyes. Words mean things. I love your commitment and passion to accurately representing Black history and not have it whitewashed, diminished, erased, or misrepresented by the careless or intentional use of certain words.
