Good evening, loves-
I hope y’all are enjoying your Sunday with family and friends and good food. I’m feeling fortified and excited for what’s ahead in the coming days.
JULY 26
THE Well-Read Black Girl Glory Edim invited me to discuss Moonrise Over New Jessup at the DC Public Library! Glory is a sincere advocate for Black women and our stories, and I am truly excited to be in conversation with her about Alice and her kin. Join us either live or streaming, but make sure to RSVP HERE because space is limited. For those of you wishing to join us in person, we will be at the MLK branch on Wednesday at 7:00pm EST.
JULY 29
I’m headed to Petersburg for a wine reception, book chat, and signing at Resist Booksellers. Come join us on Saturday evening at Celena and Demetrius’ beautiful new store. It was my honor to be there for the opening, and I cannot wait to be in community with y’all in Petersburg again. Make sure to RSVP HERE so we know to expect you!
Also, I was incredibly honored to give the keynote address for the Alabama African American Civil Rights Heritage Sites Consortium Summer Convening in June. Some of y’all were able to tune in to the livestream, but many others have asked me for a record of my remarks. I have decided to re-record them for posterity. Join me on July 24, 2023 at noon on IG live (lioness_tales), or check out the recording at your leisure. It is a speech about telling our stories and promoting our truths and taking liberty and fighting for justice and loving Alabama. I hope you’ll tune in or take some time to watch.
Enjoy the rest of your Sunday, loves.
Be well, be blessed.
