Congratulations, and thank you, to Metropolitan AME for 185 years of service in the Black community. Our churches have such an extraordinary history of activism, and it is encouraging to see some inspired preaching and calls to ministry about the recent Supreme Court decisions, police brutality, the attacks on women’s reproductive freedom and transgender rights. I am thrilled to find churches that are homes for spiritual fulfillment, social engagement, and progressive activism— congregations living by the mandate that faith, without works, is dead. James 2:14-26
